Lake Country United FC (LCUFC), aka the ’Impact’, a soccer club located in Eatonton, GA, will be honoring active and retired service men and women on Saturday October 26th by hosting a soccer match between the Georgia Revolution FC and Fort Benning FC. Georgia Revolution FC is a semi-professional soccer team whose top team competes in the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League), the fourth tier in the US Soccer pyramid.
Georgia Revolution FC will bring the team that entered the 2019 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Soccer Tournament. This team is comprised of players age 23 and under and will include several talented players from the Lake Country region including Randy Martinez from Eatonton, Georgia, Alex Escutia, originally from Eatonton and Trevin Kilpatrick of Greensboro.
Fort Benning FC is an amateur soccer team made up of active enlisted men and officers stationed at Fort Benning, which straddles the border of Georgia and Alabama near Columbus, GA. Fort Benning FC primarily competes regionally and versus other military based soccer teams. They have a reputation of being talented players with loads of speed.
Throughout the day active and inactive service men and women will be honored. The day will begin at 1:30pm with a soccer match between LCUFC 04 Premier Team (Boys) will host Steamers FC 04 Elite, a Classic 3 match between two talented teams. At 3:30pm, the LCUFC 07 Boys Team will play InterAtlanta FC 07 Boys, a Classic 4 match.
At 5:45pm a Classic 1 match will begin between LCUFC 04 Elite (Boys) versus the Columbus FC RedStars 04 Elite. These two teams met last November in the opening round of the Georgia Soccer D2 State Championship Tournament, where the team from Columbus handed LCUFC it’s only defeat of the tournament. CFC came out on top 2 – 1, but was eliminated in the tournament’s opening weekend. LCUFC however did recover from that loss, making their way to the Championship Match. This rematch should be a good one.
The Final Match of the day will be a prime-time matchup played under the lights between the Georgia Revolution FC and Fort Benning FC. Prior to the start of the match, the Honor Guard from Putnam County High School’s ROTC will present our nation’s colors and the National Anthem will be played. LCUFC will have a DJ on hand all day playing music between matches and adding to the lively atmosphere. Additionally, a Kid Zone with kid friendly soccer activities will also available for kids. The Putnam County Recreation Department will have the concession stand open serving snacks, soft drinks, coffee and hot cocoa, as well as hot foods.
